‘Emily in Paris’ Spinoff ‘Jake in Berlin’ Just 8 Hours Of Doing Ketamine At Berghain

HOLLYWOOD, CA— Fresh off the success of “Emily in Paris”, Netflix has debuted it’s spinoff series, “Jake in Berlin”, following a young gay man who moves to Berlin to do Ketamine in Berghain. Berghain, one of the most exclusive nightclubs in Europe and famous nightlife spot, is known for public sex, drug use, and back rooms in which people can spend literal days in a K-hole getting fisted.

Netflix decided to branch out into the more gritty side of Europe after reception of “Emily in Paris” noted that the series was ‘too vanilla’. To continue the original show’s legacy of having absolutely no plot, the entire show will just be one long eight hour episode of Jake doing ketamine. Charlie Carver, who plays the titular Jake, mentioned he prepared for the role by bleaching his hair blonde and learning simple German phrases like ‘spit on me’ and ‘how many pills are too many.’

“It’s a wonderful chance to build on the Emily in Paris cinematic universe and really dive into a show that asks absolutely nothing of its viewers,” said Carver, in between takes for a scene in which his character, Jake, smokes opium given to him by an Israeli DJ with a neck tattoo. “And it’s great to have a television show about gay characters that doesn’t focus on queer trauma, and instead on the daily life of regular gay people who happen to be hard partying piss pigs.”

The show will feature a cameo from Emily herself on a work trip from Paris as she gets rejected from the famously exclusive nightclub for wearing a beret and also just her whole general vibe as someone who has gay friends but still votes Republican. Lily Collins, who is a producer on Emily in Paris, will not be serving as a producer on Jake in Berlin. Instead, the show will be produced by a mysterious figure on the Berlin nightlife circuit named Klyde who has never had his photo taken nor been seen during daylight hours.

The spinoff will premiere on June 26, 2021 to celebrate the six year anniversary of the legalization of same sex marriage in the United States.
