BALTIMORE, MD— On Tuesday, Chester Parsons, a PR intern and part-time online activist, made queer history from the chaise lounge in his apartment living room, sharing a brave meme that will surely rock his cis white gay followers to their pale, toned cores.
“I first saw the meme when my totally woke friend Darryl—who is a QTPOC, mind you—posted it with a fist emoji as the caption,” said Parsons, who majored in Africana Studies at Cornell, where he was a double legacy. “Dismantling institutional systems of oppression is kind of my jam. I’m the type of guy who uses my white privilege for good, no matter how dangerous that may be.”
Upon hitting post, the 23-year-old Libra was struck by a tidal wave of emotion—a mix of fear, excitement, and an overwhelming sense of pride. He then immediately texted the courageous post to his sister Bekka, asking her to share it “just to get the likes flowing, you know?”
A cis white gay source close to Parsons said the bold activist is “totes willing to risk his life for the struggle.” They added Parsons recently expressed daring plans to attend a real-life protest sometime in the near future, so long as police are there to keep everyone safe. The son of two corporate lawyers even marked himself as “interested” in attending three social justice related events on Facebook.
At press time, the meme, which described the lingering generational impacts of redlining through the lens of Spongebob Squarepants, had already garnered 49 likes and three insightful comments about reparations, two of which were written by Parsons. Darryl declined to speak with reporters about Parson’s post, saying he “doesn’t know who that is.”
